Who we are?

Project Stree’s mission is to empower Indian menstruators by increasing awareness about hygiene habits and challenging
the stigma around menstruation.

We envision a future where every Indian menstruator fully accepts that their own body and its processes are not something to be ashamed of. Instead, we want to encourage them to believe that their body is sacred and closely linked with nature.

* Our story

How it all began

Ria and Juhi are two Indian-Americans who are both currently pursuing careers in healthcare.
Juhi’s experience living in India for five years and Ria’s consistent family trips to the subcontinent opened their eyes to the numerous health-related issues women endure in India.

Ria and Juhi have always had a passion for providing care to those who need it, but they wanted to use their education and training to give back to the women of their home country.

When Juhi visited Ria over the summer, a simple conversation led to ideas and Project Stree was born.

"In the quiet corners of rural India, a profound transformation awaits. As we break the shackles of silence, we illuminate the path towards empowerment for our sisters.

Through nurturing their menstrual hygiene, we ignite a flame of dignity, resilience, and hope that radiates through generations, forever changing their lives and empowering their spirits."
